This is my journal from my first roller rink experience at Melrose, LA on Aug 23, 2024. I went with my friends to learn roller skating, yet I gained so much more, learned so much more. Thank you to some wonderful people to whom I dedicate this. Thank you, you made my day. (Finally, felt like publishing this 2 years later)

Not one soul plundered something dear Before you came along, skating Lo and Behold! I stand here Distraught yet smiling, giggling Why am I smiling? You ask? Look at my knees, they are crying They are excited to learn something Something from you, something new Oh! I don't need any tending to I look at the rink, looking at you I am happy, smiling too, Happy to learn something new So! Will you teach me? Going around the rink, catching me as I fall again and again to my knees In these fancy roller skates Every word you say today has a meaning that I never knew nay Yes, it is true, I am ecstatic and beaming Happy to learn something (new) While every breath you breathe looks to be as deep as the ocean While every action of yours seems like a movie thriller streamed in slow-motion Your heart rate, in contrast, feels, feels as if it were in sync with mine beating, like a Staccato drum, so loud, so fast almost as fast as the time with you that passes by Every minute with you, every moment I shall cherish seems like an eternity in close-up But I know that in long-shot, the elapsed time would feel like a second of thirst-quenching rain Oh! Would you look at that, So Serene! people are inspired to fall, inspired to bleed, inspired to learn, I guess we are all happy to be smiling and crying Happy indeed to learn something new I understand myself more now, Thank you for teaching me I will store these moments amongst a pirate's bottled ship collection Moments of me learning about skating, about life with no circumspection And maybe one day, we will meet again Meet and dance in heaven's twilight If dusk follows nightfall, If daybreak precedes dawn I feel like dancing now, In these fancy shoes, Oh why? I am happy and smiling, yes Not before I get all gloomy and crying, but after
