When Blue skies darkened, when Cities got crushed like a broken man's soul You were there searching for a planet in that dark sky filled with stars, And pulling a survivor from the rubble Realizing that dark skies made me stress, Filled you with grief as we stood at a hair-pin bend And Looking no further than the fictional monuments crumbling around us, I managed to pull you up as you pulled me, an everlasting vortex with no end When my favorite ice-cream escaped my reach, when our favorite superhero sacrificed himself to save the world from Ammonia fume You were there with the world's best ice-cream (The taste doesn't matter, effort does), while pulling survivors from the rubble, this time flying around in a fancy costume We extended our family, met in a new realm away from all the shadows The everpresent sorrows, Even as the shadows tried to extend beyond their reach I'd rather bite my own cap than let the shadows anywhere closer to us When I needed support with late-night study and paper submissions, when my laptop keyboard gave up, with the keys stuck You were there as my typewriter, my study buddy pulling survivors from the keys' rubble, this time to make the keyboard work Thank you, for being in my family, And Thanks to the nights, who made the skies dark, giving me challenges Woot! Thank you for all the views that you shared, expanding my brain's limited reach And Thanks to the ice-cream that escaped - You made me realize who my favorite cook is
Thanks to your procrastinations
we absolutely enjoyed those late-night studies
Thank you for motivating us to pull ourselves together
And finally, thank you for surviving the earthquake
teaching us how to survive
The only way is up!!! Let's shake!
